JEAN DE MERRY LAUNCHES WESTCOAST FLAGSHIP SHOWROOM AT PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER
Iconic Innovators of Artisanal, French-Deco Inspired Furnishings Transition from Retail Frontage to Create a Design Center Presence Joining Several New, Expanding and Renovated PDC Showrooms
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA (March 14, 2016) – Pacific Design Center (PDC) is pleased to announce a long-term lease with Jean de Merry, internationally renowned purveyors of timeless, hand-crafted seating, lighting, casegood and decorative art collections. Debuting Summer 2016, this new showroom will feature the brand’s signature pedigree offerings complemented by highly-select collections of renowned artists, designers and craftsmen presented in a dramatic 10,000 square-foot showroom on PDC’s 6th Floor, Suite B653.
“Pacific Design Center was particularly appealing to us with its dynamic showroom space, which allows us to curate an exceptional buying experience while engaging the brand with new demographics,” said, Christian Darnaud-Maroselli, Co-Founder, Jean de Merry. Boasting an expansive yet highly refined environment featuring soaring, 40-foot high ceilings punctuated with vaulted skylights, the showroom is envisioned as a sophisticated, gallery-like setting to merchandise more than a dozen lines, including Jean de Merry, Hamel + Farrell, Heijden + Hume, Jean-Louis Deniot, Azadeh Shladovsky, Philip Nimmo, Natasha Baradaran and Alexander Lamont.
Christian Darnaud-Maroselli and Jean de Merry founded the eponymous furniture line in 2001 with a mission to uphold the craft of a bygone era. From a small French town where successive generations of de Merry’s family had operated a leather tannery for four centuries, to creating a visionary home collection hand-crafted at their Los Angeles workshop, Jean de Merry sparks the imaginations of its clients, producing pieces that are timeless, unexpected and anchored by quality and craftsmanship.
“Jean de Merry is distinguished by their commitment to time-honored design practices and incomparable product innovation, and we are thrilled to welcome the brand to Pacific Design Center,” said Charles S. Cohen, Owner and President, Pacific Design Center. “This latest transition from the street into our design campus, complemented by ongoing momentum in new and expanding showroom leasing, continues to reinforce the value of the design center proposition beyond the retail experience.”
Additional leasing gains deliver a total of 16,000 square-feet of enhanced resources, to include: Holly Hunt|Phillip Jeffries debuts this summer with a dedicated showroom featuring the brand’s collection of hand-crafted, globally-inspired wallcoverings; Quintus, a luxury furniture brand, which recently opened at PDC, offers exceptional, American-made designs created by fresh, emerging artisans; Bausman & Company, a leading manufacturer of fine quality French, English and Italian reproductions, increases its PDC presence with a newly-imagined 7,500 square-foot space to showcase current and expanded lines; Scott Group Studio relocates to its new contemporary space and expands with a modern, organized showroom to view bespoke hand-knotted, hand-tufted, machine-tufted and woven custom carpets; Michael Taylor Collections refreshes and expands to present iconic designs and new introductions working together in a well-appointed, cohesive environment.
ABOUT JEAN DE MERRY
Christian Darnaud-Maroselli and Jean de Merry founded the namesake furniture line, Jean de Merry, in 2001 with a mission to uphold the craft of a bygone era. From a small French town where successive generations of de Merry’s family had operated a leather tannery for four centuries, to creating a visionary home collection hand-crafted at their Los Angeles workshop, Jean de Merry has grown into a French Deco-inspired, artisanal line that sparks the imaginations of its clients, producing pieces that are timeless, unexpected and anchored by quality and craftsmanship. For the duo, emphasis on the process has always been key to creating beautiful yet integral pieces. To create Jean de Merry seating, lighting, casegoods and decorative art pieces, de Merry and Maroselli transferred their knowledge of age-old, French techniques for application on woods, leathers, shagreen, parchment and bronze to a new generation of American craftsmen. New forays in textile and glass manufacturing have recently debuted. For more information visit http://www.jeandemerry.com/home
