COLOR TO WEST HOLLYWOOD
House & Garden Color Symposium To Accent WestWeek 2000
Los Angeles (March 6, 2000) Pacific Design Center (PDC) will explore the impact of color and color trends on our everyday lives in House & Gardens brilliant "Color Symposium," it was announced today by PDC President Charles S. Cohen. In conjunction with the PDCs WestWeek 2000 conference, the presentation will take place on Thursday, March 30, 2000 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Center Green Theatre. Hosted by Editor, Dominique Browning and moderated by color expert, Bride Whelan, the multicolored keynote program will examine the power of color and its impact on the consumer. Panel speakers include: Ole Bek, President, Bang & Olufsen America, Inc.; Carolyn Lantz, Director of Consuemr Futuring, Lincoln-Mercury; Sally Sirkin Lewis, President and CEO, J. Robert Scott, Inc.; and Paul Weaver, CO-Foudner, Michael Taylor Designs. Pacific Design Center is located at 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, CA.

Browning is editor-in-chief of House & Garden. Prior to taking her post, she was editor-in-chief of Mirabella. With an extensive career in magazine publishing, she was the first woman to be named assistant managing editor of Newsweek. She has also held positions as executive editor of Texas Monthly and literary editor of Esquire. Additionally, Browning was a founding partner of the Edison Project, a research and development effort to create a national system of high quality, affordable schools.
Whelan is executive director of the Society of Publication Designers (SPD), a non-profit professional arts organization whose membership consists of art directors and designers from around the world. She also teaches color theory at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Additionally, Whelan is the author of Color Harmony 2,
PDCs "Color Symposium" which is used extensively in the industry as a definitive color theory text. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Chicago and was a Fulbright scholar at London University.
WestWeek 2000 is a major three-day trade event celebrating architecture and design held on March 29, 30 and 31. The event will welcome over 30,000 architects, designers, manufacturers, distributors, facility managers, educators, allied design professionals and others from across the U.S. During the event, individual PDC showrooms will exhibit new products and host an array of noted industry speakers and programs. Keynote programs over three days will offer a diverse range of opinions and insight from leaders in architecture, design (interior, product, fashion and graphic), entertainment and technology.
