2003 STARS OF DESIGN

Presentation to award recipients to highlight WESTWEEK 2003
on Wednesday, March 26

Los Angeles (March 16, 2003) – Pacific Design Center announced today its prestigious WESTWEEK 2003 Stars of Design award recipients as well as the jury of industry professionals that selected this year’s winners. The presentation of the Stars of Design is always a highly anticipated event during Pacific Design Center’s WESTWEEK and this year will be no different. The awards will be presented on Wednesday, March 26 at 5:00 PM.

For the past nine years, PDC has chosen to honor the very best designers in their respective fields. Top honors this year go to Kelly Wearstler (Principal, KWID) for Interior Design, Richardson Robertson III for Architecture, Kerry Joyce for Production Design, Robin Perkins (Selbert Perkins) for Graphic Design, Lisa Padilla (AIA, Zimmer Gunsel Frasca), Peter Alexander for Art and Herb Ritts for Photography.

Pacific Design Center invited the crème de la crème of the design world to be members on this year’s Stars of Design Jury Committee and is thrilled to have such a distinguished panel of judges including the likes of House and Garden Design Editor, Mayer Rus, Los Angeles Times Design Editor, Barbara Thornburg, MOCA Executive Director, Jeremy Strick, Daily Associates Chairman, Cliff Einstein, House Beautiful Editor in Chief, Mark Mayfield and Traditional Home Editor In Chief, Anne Maine. This year’s jury deliberated over several strong design candidates from the Southern California area and came up with the seven winners based on criteria and standards that were a step above other designers in their innovative and unique concepts of design.

This year’s honorees follow in the polished footsteps of past award-winners such as Frank O. Gehry, FAIA, Richard Meier FAIA, Julius Shulman, John Baldessari, Barbara Barry, Saul Bass, and Michael Berman.
