PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER WELCOMES TAI PING CARPETS
West Hollywood, California (May, 2006) Pacific Design Center (PDC), the west coast’s leading resource for the interior design trades, is pleased to announce the opening of Tai Ping Carpets. The 3,600 square foot showroom, located on the fourth floor of the blue building in Suite B400 launched during WESTWEEK 2006.
The first West Coast showroom of the flourishing Chinese luxury brand, both the space and the product pay homage to the company’s rich heritage, referencing its roots in Asia, its design development in Europe, and its most recent expansion to North America.
Tai Ping anchors its American presence with this new space, a counterpart to the company’s US headquarters in New York. “Los Angeles, with such a vibrant and creative design scene, is a natural choice for Tai Ping. We’re delighted to have a permanent home at the PDC,” said James Kaplan, CEO of Tai Ping Carpets Group.
Tai Ping will introduce two new collections in the PDC, Nomad and Orientations. Designed by Tai Ping designer Yasmina Kossmann specifically for the US market, Nomad is the design equivalent of a discerning traveler’s notebook, drawing inspiration from sources such as Chinese decoration, Indian embroidery, traditional lace, and geometric patterns. An international collection, Orientations was designed in Tai Ping’s Paris atelier and premiered at Maison + Objet this past January. Orientations was inspired by the iconic images of traditional Chinese stamps, seals and calligraphy. In addition, the new space will have a full complement of samples illustrating the extraordinary breadth of Tai Ping’s hand-tufted offerings.
