A veteran of theatrical and motion picture production design, Douglas applies his craft to residential interiors, producing hand-painted finishes, textiles and wall coverings for such notables as Bruce Gregga, Michael Smith, Mark Boone and Rose Tarlow, with whom he is best known for his collaboration in developing the Melrose House Collection. Considered a visionary amongst his peers, Funkhouser’s le gracieux, inc.textiles have been photographed by Architectural Digest, The World of Interiors, Veranda, House Beautiful and Traditional Home.
